Attorneys Secure Affordable Lease for Community Arts Center & Recording Studio Totem Star

In July 2024, attorneys and summer associates had the incredible opportunity to tour the Totem Star community arts center and recording studio, led by co-founder Daniel Pak. Totem Star is a vibrant hub for young artists, providing a creative space to develop and showcase their talents.

Totem Star shared how Foster Garvey, through our DEI billable credit program, played a role in negotiating an affordable fixed-rate lease for their new space. Thanks to attorneys Zach Browning and Bryan Helfer, Totem Star’s rent is locked until 2030. Currently located in the historic King Street Station in Seattle, this new space allows them to reach more youth and host more centralized jam sessions.

As the group toured the studio, they saw the drums donated by Sir-Mix-a-Lot and heard about other celebrity donors and supporters who have contributed to this inspiring initiative. Later, the group enjoyed original music performances by Pak and one of the talented teens in their program, Mkmuzz.

Attorneys Zach Browning, Julia Doherty, Hannah Fine, Erin Snodgrass, Ruby Virk, Adana Protonentis of Kindred Leaders and five of our Seattle-based summer associates attended the tour.
